News of the Carnival's demise are a bit premiture

There was a bit of a lack of steam problem for a moment there at the end of last year - as with many things in life the Carnival seems to go effortlessly when it has momentum but when it starts to falter it can very easily break down.

All suggestions on rectifying that problem will be gratefully received!

Anyway, it's a new year and time to see if we can get the Carnival back on its feet. That means we need volunteers. I'm going to wipe the diary clean and start again. If you're interested in hosting an edition of the Carnival of Socialism, God bless you, and leave a comment below saying what date you'd like, where you blog and, if you want to have a theme, it would be a good idea to run it past us first too.

Sunday 1st Feb: vacant
Sunday 15th Feb: Mustard Seed
Sunday 1st March: Though Cowards Flinch
15th March: Stroppyblog
Sunday 29th March: vacant

I won't volunteer quite yet as I have done so a couple of time lately but I am glad that you are keeping the show on the road.

Yes, same here. I want to fill up a few places with others first before putting myself forward too...

I'm all for getting the carnival going again. We should definitely do something on Gaza. Heaps of blogs are posting on it.

Why not even just collect a heap of posts on Gaza and post them here?

I wish I had the time to run the carnival but simply couldn't given most of my blogging time is at work, where blogger is blocked.

We could do Ben although that feels the same as someone volunteering to do a special on Gaza anyway...

Essentially we need volunteers - what I could do (thinking aloud) is an open thread on Gaza where people can post their blog posts themselves and comment on them.

I'll happily take the March 1st slot for something on socialism and internet-based activism, if you like.

Hi Jim

I think 2008 has been a funny year for writing, a lot of us seemed to unilaterally go a bit off the boil, hopefully it was a temporary hiatus.

I did Carnival 6 back in 2006 when John A asked me so I'm more than happy to have another crack at it, since I've now decamped to a different site and taken all my stuff with me. If you can find people keen who've never done it before then put me down the list after them but if you're stuck I'll gladly help out.

One thing I would do is open up the comments sections to those outside blogger, like OpenID because I think otherwise some who might wish to volunteer will not be able to.

I think Benjamin is right about doing something on Gaza should be easy enough to collect a whole load of things on it and may be a nice quick one to organise to galvanise people again.

BTW if you change the link for Carnival 6 to

http://roterbaron.wordpress.com/2006/07/09/carnival-of-socialism-6-orig-posted-blog-city/

that'll do it.

cheers

A powerful share, I just given this onto a colleague who was doing slightly analysis on this. And he in truth bought me breakfast as a result of I found it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love reading more on this topic. If potential, as you grow to be expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more details? It is highly helpful for me. Huge thumb up for this blog submit!
